UPDATE: Epic Implementation Project – New Resources Available

Earlier this year, we announced that Cape Cod Healthcare chose Epic to be our new single, integrated health information system. The announcement formally kicked off a multi-year implementation project, with our transition to Epic planned for November 2020. The new system will replace Soarian and over 20 disparate clinical and billing systems, resulting in a single, shared patient record for patients across CCHC.

The implementation of Epic is a core component of Vision 2022, an initiative focused on enhancing our technical and physical infrastructure to support the highest quality of care for patients on Cape Cod and beyond.

Visit the new Vision 2022 – Single Patient Record website to learn more.

The early phases of the project are underway and have already involved many of you. Over 200 staff and 50 physicians were involved in the initial selection of Epic. Today, more than 500 clinicians and staff are serving as subject matter experts, providing critical input into the process such as identifying workflow impacts and opportunities for standardization, and ways the system can support improved quality and care coordination. This work is being managed by a robust project team led by CCHC Information Technology Services (ITS), with on-site support from Epic and Deloitte Consulting.

Whether you are currently engaged in the project or called upon to support a later phase, the success of a project of this magnitude will rely on the support of every person at CCHC. This project will require clinical and administrative teams from across the system to come together to determine how the new system and standardization of our work can support the best care for our patients. In some instances, this process will require changes to the way we work. Those changes will help drive us toward the shared goal of improving overall care quality, safety and coordination across CCHC.

I encourage each of you to embrace this change with the understanding that our investment in Epic will enable Cape Cod Healthcare to function as a truly integrated, advanced healthcare system for our community.

Stay tuned for more information on the Vision 2022 – Single Patient Record project as it relates to your role. In the meantime, I encourage you to explore the new website and share it with your teams.

Thank you for your support throughout this process.

Sincerely,
Michael K. Lauf
