In November 2020, Cape Cod Healthcare (CCHC) including Cape Cod Hospital, Falmouth Hospital, Medical Affiliates Cape Cod (MACC) physician practices and CCHC outpatient clinics will go-live on the Epic electronic health record (EHR) for both clinical and revenue cycle applications. (The Visiting Nurses Association of Cape Cod will go-live on Epic at a later date.) The new integrated system will replace over 20 disparate clinical and billing systems, resulting in a single, shared patient record for all patients across CCHC. The implementation of Epic is a core component of Vision 2022, an initiative focused on enhancing our technical and physical infrastructure to support the highest quality of care for patients across Cape Cod and beyond.
Epic is one of the most widely adopted EHRs in the nation, chosen by many leading healthcare systems. Epic has been demonstrated to support improved care coordination, safety, quality, outcomes and patient satisfaction. The system offers advanced analytical capabilities that will improve our ability to track and measure, which will support clinical care delivery optimization and innovation. The revenue cycle functionality will support a centralized billing function for all services across CCHC, increasing efficiency and consistency in our processes and improving the patient experience.
Project Vision Statement
“The Epic system single patient record will enable Cape Cod Healthcare physicians and employees to provide the best possible care to our patients and the community.”
